Kickers and ties

First compare hand categories. Within a category, compare the relevant ranks: for a pair, the pair rank first, then the three remaining cards from highest to lowest.

A kicker is a side card used to distinguish otherwise equal combinations. Compare only kickers included in the best five.

For two pair compare the higher pair, then the lower pair, then the kicker. For a full house compare the three-of-a-kind rank before the pair rank.
